ASHAY Dance Troupe provide the opening ceremony at the Bollywood Dance Championships 2009
Description
The ASHAY Dance Troupe were very honoured to be asked to provide the opening ceremony for the Bollywood Dance Championships held annually by Salma's Bollywood Dance Academy. Nisha Lall work very closely with the Bradford classes in preparation for the Bollywood Championships and was very proud of all the students who competed. The event was a great celebration of Bollywood dance and culture and great to see the enthusiasm in young and older audiences.
The ASHAY Dance Troupe performance was a journey into Indian dances, starting with the classical style of Bharatnatyam and the folk styles of Ghoomer and Bhangra. Then moving onto 70s Bollywood with a classic cabaret number by Helen, a well known dancing diva and then finishing with some popular bollywood hits.
