Nisha Lall of AIM TO DANCE teaches at the Jessop Wing, Sheffield

Description
Nisha Lall of AIM TO DANCE was very pleased to be asked to do a talk and workshop on the benefits of bellydance. It is always interesting to get the chance to talk about bellydance as well as teach it. It gives poeple the chance to voice opinions, ask inquisive questions and learn about the benefits of bellydance both physically and mentally.

Johnathon Eaton, a freelance journalist, also took the opportunity to interview Nisha Lall, participants and observe the workshop.

PEOPLE looking to lose weight have been urged to literally try and dance their bellies away.
Nisha Lall from Sheffield based belly dancing group Aim to Dance is teaching people of all abilities how to wiggle like Shakira at classes in the city centre, Hillsborough and Hunters Bar.
Speaking at a class which was part of a six week series of women's health workshops at the Hallamshire Hospital Nisha who has taught belly dancing for 10 years spoke highly of the social and physical benefits of the activity. She said: "You can come into a class by yourself and you get a lot of confidence out of it and a real sense of achievement. It is very good for your health as well and general fitness and there is a lot of body awareness involved."
"People get to know other people in the class and for all the classes that I have ever taught it has always been really friendly. "I have also actually personally seen people over the two months that have actually lost weight and they have come to see me saying that they feel much better about themselves as well."
Aim to Dance is part of a regional belly dancing network which hold events called 'Haphlas' around Christmas. Students aged from teenagers to their 80's learn the middle-eastern variation of the dance and which has influences from Bollywood. They can either decide to use the classes purely to keep fit or to perform either in closed shows or with the dance Troupe at National competitions all over the country.
